Face The Music: Frederick Pessaro

"I think my strongest ability is to identify great young bands with the potential to break."

Position: Editor at Large, Vice Music

How did you first become involved in the music business? I first started when I was making zines and going to shows at age 14. I started on a professional level much later, freelancing anywhere that would have me until I started full-time at BrooklynVegan.

What's your area of expertise and what experience do you have? I think my strongest ability is to identify great young bands with the potential to break. I have been at the front lines with emerging talent, and attend as many as five shows a week.

What topics will you be mostly talking about at Face The Music? Mostly blogging, writing, social, identifying talent, etc.

What do you hope to personally take away from Face The Music? To help spread awareness of good music, identifying it, and cutting through the red tape, favours, payola, and other things to get to the heart of what really matters.

What's one question about the music industry you'd love to have the answer to? Who and what is next?
