Position: Producer/mixing/mastering engineer
How did you first become involved in the music business? Depends on how you define business! I feel like music jobs often start with unpaid work. My first major project was mastering Melbourne band I'lls' first EP, Thread, eventually leading to working at Deluxe Mastering.
What's your area of expertise and what experience do you have? An innate knowledge of how sonic frequencies behave and translate, fostered through years of spending too long in front of a computer with headphones on. Knowing what people fundamentally enjoy in music helps too.
What topics will you be mostly talking about at Face The Music? I'll be dissecting a song I've mixed and giving some practical advice along the way for people to take home and try out. Questions are welcome, love helping out with problems!
What do you hope to personally take away from Face The Music? Good times with friends I don't see often enough, hopefully learn a thing or two too. Looking forward to the blogging panel!
What's one question about the music industry you'd love to have the answer to? How many times we've all been asked, "But what's your REAL job?"
