Veteran West Australian five-piece Red Jezebel are approaching the biggest day in their careers for the past eight years — the long-awaited arrival of new studio full-length Coup De Grace, the band's first new recorded work since 2007's second album How I Learnt To Stop Worrying and exclusively premiering on theMusic.com.au ahead of its release at the end of the week.
Ready and raring to drop this Friday, 13 March, the album was preceded in November by new single Your Days Are Numbered and, most recently, Outer Dodge, which now paint but a part of the glistening whole for which fans of the Perth-based outfit have been waiting nearly a decade. Radio is excited, too — the album is also this week's Feature Album on Double J, but you needn't wait in vain hoping to catch it on the airwaves; just hit play above and enjoy it whenever and wherever you like, as often as you want.
Red Jezebel have been slowly but surely shaking off the rust, last month completing a show at Chevron Gardens alongside indie lords Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, which, at the time, was billed as the most probable album launch we're likely to get — but, hopefully, once enough ears hear the goodness contained within Coup De Grace's track list, the band won't be able to ignore the growing calls to see some live celebrations for their long overdue new record.
Still, until that comes to fruition, it might be percipient to check out the band's Facebook page and chuck it a thumbs up to be best-placed to keep tabs on where and when Red Jezebel do step out next, whenever and wherever that might end up being. Either way, give Coup De Grace a spin and you'll wish you knew already.
