EP PREMIERE: Elmo Aoyama - 'Spells'

“It feels good to release these songs now."

More Elmo Aoyama Elmo Aoyama

The new EP from Sydney-based artist and Big White member Elmo Aoyama is a “collection of memories from time already past”.

The indie electro/pop muso said the tracks on Spells, premiering today via The Music, were “recorded and toured years ago before being put to rest peacefully”.

“My laptop was stolen last year and my hard drive melted this year,” Aoyama told The Music.

“This combined with everything that’s going on in the world made me think of these songs. I didn’t have the project files anymore; all I had was the completed versions. I thought I may as well release them now before I lose them too.

“It feels good to release these songs now. The passing of time gives them a lot of distance from when they were written. They are not attached to anything anymore except nostalgia.”

Check out the Spells EP above ahead of its official release via Dinosaur City Records tomorrow.
