EP Focus: Villainettes

 

 

How many releases do you have now? This is essentially the debut release although founding members Mixo and Jono released early tracks to Soundcloud last year. 

 

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? Particularly inspiring for me was four new minds working cohesively together to create a sonic scape in a shed in Collingwood. No genre direction was ever discussed so that allowed our sound to grow organically.

 

What’s your favourite song on it? Love Cuts. Although The Moon & The Sun was a personal favourite before I was asked to join the band. 

 

We’ll like this EP if we like... Previous comparisons include Joy Division, The Horrors, Tears For Fears and even Swans. I’m not sure how that all fits together but we write pop songs with dark, erotic elements.   

 

When and where is your launch/next gig? Love Cuts will be launched at The Toff In Town on 11 Oct with supports from New Gods and Soviet X-Ray Record Club (Bris). $15 with treats for earlybirds.
