Wadawurrung man & electronic powerhouse Moss is a sonic storyteller unlike any other. Through intricate layers of synths, bass-driven production and a guaranteed unparalleled listening experience, Moss lives as a brooding enigma in the Australian electronic space. A deep dive into his discography will show the artist at all ends of his artistry (or at least, the depths at which he has invited us into so far). If you want to get to know Moss, you’ve gotta put your ears forward first – that’s what makes his presence on the release radar that much more riveting.
On his latest offering You Again, a collaborative track with electropop artist Boo Seeka, you’re transcended into a world that feels both familiar and new, powered by haunting vocal melodies, introspective flair, and a feeling of pure ecstasy. From the moment you press play, you’re taken beyond your headphones and the pulsing speakers that carry the sound waves to you, floating around in an endless abyss where “there’s no rules, just messages calling out to the void hopeful for an answer”. Moss and Boo Seeka act as your shaman, guiding you through an experience that keeps you coming back for more.
You Again only scratches the surface of what Moss has to offer in 2025. To dive in a little more, we spoke to the artist about balance, familiar feelings, and what the rest of the year holds.
It’s definitely been a journey of self-discovery and emotional literacy over the last few years. For me storytelling is always at the core of every record and I think communicating and translating that into a sonic journey is something I’ve been really refining as I’ve grown. My approach to music has always been a lot of heavy basses, fast rhythms and more club orientated sounds and ‘You Again’ is exploring a softer, more emotional side which I’m enjoying a lot.
That’s a really great question, I think that balance is honestly very fluid and dependent on what I’m feeling each day sitting down to write. Channeling those emotions into the songs is where it really comes from and if I’m feeling energetic for example, it’s time to make a banger hahah. I’m currently living in Sydney which definitely has a lot of chaotic sides to it and ‘taking time to take time’ is something I’ve been incorporating a lot to counter that. You Again really came out of that process, almost like giving myself permission to create softer 4/4 records.

Writing with Boo was such an inspiring session - it was our first time meeting and we only had a few hours in a studio together to see what we could create. We really resonated quickly as our approaches to writing both come from a place of feeling first and serving the story of the song. The concept of the song just came together so quickly and as we excitedly spitballed ideas, lyrics and melodies over the loop of chops I had playing, it all just fell into place. That raw moment I wanted to honour and as a result made very little changes to the track to now be released.
That feeling is something that I’ve felt a lot and it comes in waves. Whether it’s loved ones, friends or ancestors looking over me, I think it is really open to interpretation and I don’t want to spoil it too much! There’s a whole range of emotions at play for me, from melancholic to hopeful and it’s cool that each time I listen I even come away with a different feeling.
Jumping in the studio with other artists is always just such a special time. We all come from different backgrounds and lived experiences and there’s this magical energy in the room that happens when you lock in creatively on a shared story / sound. I really find inspiration in that and channel it into the record, capturing that moment as best we can.
To me there’s so many feelings of raw honesty, with the voice of Boo really putting their heart on their sleeve for this other character. There’s no rules, just messages calling out to the void hopeful for an answer. Love with heartache and soft questions with that heaviness underneath.
You Again is the first record from a larger EP of work that will unfold in the coming months. It’s the most authentic I’ve been with my tunes and there’ll be more dropping verrrrry soon! You can also catch me at Rabbits Eat Lettuce and a few more shows announcing soon.
You Again is available on all streaming platforms now. Check out a live performance of the track below.
