Go Behind The Scenes At NIDA

"Our experienced staff will be on hand to answer any questions and to showcase just how much NIDA has to offer."

Ever wondered what goes on behind the doors of the school that trained some of Australia's greatest actors, directors, writers, designers, costume and props creators and screen and stage professionals?

On Saturday 14 May from 11am, the National Institute Of Dramatic Art will open its doors to the public so that you can find out more about everything the centre has to offer through workshops, performances and presentations by current students, alumni and staff.

As well as NIDA's world-acclaimed acting degree, there are Vocational Diploma, Bachelor and Masters courses on offer across a range of disciplines, including acting, musical theatre, costume-making, design, directing, props-making, staging, specialist make-up, technical theatre, stage management and writing for performance. No matter your interest, if you are looking to explore a future in the creative industries next year, the NIDA Open Day is a great place to start.

"NIDA is the goal for many creative young people around Australia, and our Open Day is a great opportunity for them to learn more about what we do and how they can be part of our community,' says NIDA's Deputy Director and one of Australia's leading designers, Michael Scott-Mitchell.

"NIDA's world-renowned reputation is a result of our ongoing commitment to delivering innovative and practice-based programs and dedication to the future success of our students. During Open Day, our experienced staff will be on hand to answer any questions and to showcase just how much NIDA has to offer, including our state-of-the art facilities and extensive network of industry contacts both here in Australia and internationally.'

In addition, Open Day guests will be treated to performances by NIDA's talented students, behind-the-scenes tours of the NIDA Theatres, a peek into the props and staging workshops, and a revealing look at what goes into creating NIDA's spectacular costumes.
