What kind of courses do you offer? Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, Diploma of Music Industry (Jazz Performance), Certificate III & IV in Music Industry
Do you offer practical on-site learning or more of a theoretical base? JMI's courses are all very hands-on and practical. The Bachelor course is a performance-based course where students spend the majority of contact hours playing their instrument. Each student receives individual one-on-one lessons on their major instrument supplemented by music classes that focus on aural skills, theory, improvisation and ensemble.
What makes you different to other educational institutions? JMI focuses solely on a jazz curriculum; the only private higher education provider in Australia that does so. JMI is a very supportive and nurturing environment that creates a real sense of community amongst its students. The JMI faculty includes some of Australia's finest jazz musicians and educators.

Do you offer job opportunities, internships, or other ways to help students get ahead? JMI offers plenty of performance opportunities for students at local bars, council events and JMI's very own jazz club, JMI Live. In 2016, JMI booked students for over 100 public performances throughout the year. These performance opportunities are invaluable for student development and networking with the industry.
When and where is your next Info Day/Open Day? JMI offers free pre-audition interviews available by appointment for anyone interested in enrolling in our courses. In this free pre-audition interview you will be able to have a meet and greet with the Head of School and ask questions relating to course and audition requirements.
