Diver City – the children’s project of comedian Matt Okine and musician Kristy-Lee Peters or KLP – ring in Valentines Day with the release of their EP Weekend Baby, a project which is intended for children, however contains sounds that adults will undoubtedly bop their heads to.
After being friends and working alongside each other for years as announcers on the radio station triple j, the duo both had children around the same time, ultimately inspiring them to work on something that ties fun, family and music together. After their 2020 debut album Welcome to Diver City earned them an ARIA award nomination for Best Children’s Album and an AIR award nomination for Best Independent Children’s Album, Diver City knew to go full send in the years to come, evidently leading them to yet another ARIA nomination for their sophomore album Dance Silly.
Now, they’ve honed in on their high-energy blend of electro-pop, hip-hop, and dance beats with their latest project Weekend Baby, set to make kids and their parents jump to their feet.
“Weekend Baby is our most ambitious release yet,” they said. “As our kids have grown, so has our style, which means our songs now span the entire experience of baby, toddler, and early schooling life. We've grown as storytellers and producers, and have always set out to make music that parents can enjoy as much as their little ones. There's club bangers, summer jams, and heartfelt ballads for you and your little ones to bond over; so come join us in Diver City - we can't wait to party with you!"
But before Diver City, there’s no doubt parents struggled to curate a playlist of music that satisfies both children and adults. Luckily, the duo know just how to cater to that pocket. Together, Diver City have put together a collection of 10 tracks that’ll make anyone from toddler to teenager, adult to elder, move their body.
Was there a better pop song released in the 2000s? The answer is no, no there was not. This song will get you feeling the vibes at any party even after your little one has kept you up all night.

With surreal lyrics about oysters in pockets, this instantly catchy song will immediately capture your little one's imagination while giving you a taste of some of Australia's finest new talent.
Laurie Berkner absolutely nails the 90s singer-songwriter vibes whether she's singing about bumblebees or dinosaurs. Rocketship Run has such a fun bop to it that you'll have a smile on your face from start to finish!
This classic 80s jam will have kids hitting the dance floor and clapping along to the iconic beat, whilst also hitting all the right nostalgia feels for parents who have hit their sore-back era.
This purely instrumental dance number has all the right notes to get as silly as you can on the D-floor without any judgement. Perfect for a dance-circle if you think you've got what it takes to out-move the kids!
ARIA-winning queens of kids music, Teeny Tiny Stevies, know how to pack meaning into every single song and Boss Of My Own Body is no different. This song has such a cool message of empowerment weaved throughout it's country-and-western style bounce that it's worth busting out at any party for people young and old.
There's a reason why this track has over one-and-a-half BILLION streams. It's a total jam. And seeing your kids sing along to this song will instantly make you feel exactly like the song's title.
This breakout track from West Australian indie-poppers, San Cisco, details the complexities of a budding relationship and is likely to go straight over the head of the kids, but the melody is so infectious that it'll have everyone at the party singing along right from the get go.
This song took out Triple J's 2024 Hottest 100 and was also my 5-year-old daughter's favourite song of the year. Bonus points if you can hit all the high notes after spending the whole party begging the kids to stop double-dipping and spilling their cordial all over the couch.
Sometimes parenthood can feel like a robbery. All your spare time, your independence, your clean car - stolen from you in the blink of an eye! Thankfully sing-alongs with your little ones to tracks like this from Lime Cordial make it all worth it. A perfect party banger.
