Briefly describe your show. Death Of A Disco Dancer is all framed around the things you love to do in life and the crappy people that get in the way.

What was the inspiration behind your show? Singing to myself in the break room and people complaining. Teaching kids and having chairs thrown at me. Guys threatening to fight you for dancing. All the good things that you don’t expect people to want to fight you over. The idea that you might want to inject some joy into the world and being met with a shoe to the head. There’s a lot of shitty people in the world and I wanted this show to counter all that.

What makes your show different? I like to mess with the conventions of stand-up whenever I can. I don’t like to be limited by one man and a microphone. Also, I include in all the elements from Captain Planet. Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and (especially) HEART.

What was the biggest challenge you encountered in this show? How to make everything form together in a nice concise package. Plenty of dance breaks should do the trick. Also choosing your favourite jokes for the show is liking choosing a favourite child. It’s a lot of favourite children that you have to not let into the show. Also, no children are allowed into the show.

What makes a good Fringe show? What do you personally look for from the perspective of an audience member? Anything unexpected is great. Something that you want to share and can’t wait to tell your friends about. This could be anything from a touching piece of theatre or a freak show where the half-naked performers rub themselves on you while you down a beer (that happened. It was weird).

What do you love about Fringe Festival besides all the shows? I will dance at the Artist Bar until I am a sweaty mess of a man and then I will dance some more. I recently got engaged so a dancefloor is not about seduction. It is all about dancing far too enthusiastically until 3am and forgetting that you have responsibilities the next day, like selling tickets.

What are you excited to see at this year’s Fringe? Dr Brown and Trygve Wakenshaw (Kraken) are both my favourite acts. They’re both the most playful and genius clowns I have ever seen. I’m looking forward to Dr Brown’s collaboration with Sam Simmons. They’re all guys that I tried and take inspiration from when put together this show.

And for a fun random one, in a fantasy world who would you be the love child of? Freddy Mercury and Michael Fassbender.
