Courtney Barnett – Kim’s Caravan

More Courtney Barnett Courtney Barnett Profile

Her debut album, Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, was met with critical acclaim upon its release last month and debuted at number four on the ARIA Album Charts.

And the latest video for Courtney Barnett’s song off the record, Kim’s Caravan has dropped, which has taken a much darker approach then her recent efforts.

The near seven minute film clip, primarily based in rural areas, shows the female songwriter walk through beautiful green scenery to take a seat beach side as she stares out into the open water amidst cut scenes of herself casually lounging about in a caravan.

Some of the themes heavily drawn on in the song are Barnett’s concerns for the environment, specifically the Great Barrier Reef.

Speaking about her latest tune, Barnett said: “Kim’s Caravan is an apocalyptic tale of our world painted black with oil and soot, painted red with blood and greed. The song was born when blessed with time to reflect, feeling the frustration and helplessness of the destruction of my environment and the litter of humans within it”

We won’t spoil the ending for you, but let’s just say, the build up is well worth the wait.

Meanwhile, the singer will embark on Australian tour from next week in support of the new album and in more exciting news, Barnett this week scored an invite to join the Glastonbury lineup for a second straight year.
