Alex Elliott-Howery, part founder and owner of Marrickville cafe Cornersmith, is launching her cookbook, Cornersmith, at Wandering Cooks in South Brisbane on 23 Oct from 6.30pm.
The book is packed with Elliot-Howery and her husband (co-author and cafe owner) James Grant's favourite dishes from their award-winning cafe. Every page is a reflection of their philosophy for using local and in-season ingredients to create meals from scratch, avoiding processed goods and reducing waste. The pair preaches following the seasons and opening your eyes to the bounty in your own neighborhood and it's hard to argue with such delicious results.
Cornersmith covers everything from the top picks from their picklery; breakfasts through to desserts; and recipes for the cafe's most popular jams, compotes, chutneys, relishes, and fermented foods.
Elliot-Howery will also be conducting a pickling demonstration at the launch for any eager amateurs. RSVP is essential: book your spot at avidreader.com.au.
