"Sex On Toast's ambition is mostly to be featured as the house band in the next Kan-Tong commercial."
Member/Role: Angus Leslie (vocals, guitar, benevolent dictator)
Hometown: Melbourne
Short description of your band and your music: Sex On Toast is a ten-piece band that specialises in raw synth-funk, blue-eyed soul and eccentric mischief.
Has the party side of the music industry been all you were hoping for so far in your career? When band members return from Sydney Casino at 10am soaked in liquor, chewing their faces off from scurvy and seem keen to hop back in the van and drive to the next town, then yes.

What is the best thing that's happened to you/your band so far? Probably supporting the legendary Angry Anderson in Katoomba a few weeks ago and hearing him talk on stage about being on a ruthless combination of pingers and Viagra. This is a true story, folks.
Are your ambitions mainly artistic or commercial? Sex On Toast's ambition is mostly to be featured as the house band in the next KanTong commercial. We'd like smile, hold ten wooden spoons and sing the theme song. No with this luck yet.
Is your music best rendered in the studio or the live realm? Both have their ups and downs. Music in the studio is much easier to control. Music on stage has a lot of energy. I suppose you could say it's best rendered at 48k in .wav format.
If you could have any act past or present join you on your next tour who would you tap? We hear of a guy in Italy called Kokos Man who sells perfume in the town of Luca and makes music with a MIDI guitar that would open everyone's minds and hearts. Him.
What industry lessons would you like to take away from the BIGSOUND conference? How this can continue to be manageable in the long term? How we can fend off illnesses (like scurvy) on tour? How we can get on more stages around the world and get nasty!
What acts are you looking forward to checking out at the BIGSOUND showcase? Mangelwurzel, Jaala, Donny Benet, New Venusians, Dorsal Fins, Wallace, Mojo Juju, All Our Exes Live In Texas!
Why should people come and see you from amongst the many cool bands at BIGSOUND? Because ten-piece bands are sort of like rare animals, we're becoming extinct! People watch David Attenborough documentaries all the time, consider us a flock of rare peacocks in matching attire playing BLAZING funk.
