More FRITZ More FRITZ

Give us a short description of your music: Bubbly, fuzzy, noisy, dreamy and poppy.

Which acts are on your must-see list at BIGSOUND? GAUCI, yergurl and Dianas!

Why should people come and see you among the many amazing bands at BIGSOUND? Because we're funny and you just never know what could happen at a FRITZ show. Not even we know. But also my music is pretty alright, not gonna lie, and I think people may like it? Is that an alright answer?

What music trends do you think are dominating right now, and do you have any predictions for the coming year? Genres aside... I think a popular music trend right now would be self-deprecating band memes. I love them, we all love them. But anyway, as far as what I've been hearing to be popular... maybe dream-pop? I feel as though 2019 has been the year for dream-pop. We'll see.

In your career to date, what have been the key watershed moments? Playing SXSW earlier this year is definitely a big one. It was our first time playing overseas and the showcases we played were amazing. It was just overall such a great experience to play to a whole different audience in a whole different country! A dream come true.

What industry lessons would you like to take away from the BIGSOUND conference? I read that Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast will be doing a talk and I’m soooooo excited for that, I love Best Coast so much. I’ll be really keen to hear what she shares about her experience with the music industry and all of her wisdom.

What do you identify as the most pressing issue impacting the Australian music industry at present? Probably music venues and lockout laws? Perhaps emerging bands now don't feel like they can get enough support or find it difficult with all that's going on with live music in Australia at the moment. I feel like NSW is kind of isolated in that department.

What is the best bit of advice you've been given to prepare for your time at BIGSOUND? Be sure to practise with your band heaps before getting on stage, make sure your set is down and that every member knows what they’re doing. It’s good to play your best song first too because it's really all about making the best impressions at BIGSOUND. Practise handshaking, be organised.

When and where is your BIGSOUND showcase? 3 Sep, The Zoo, 8.50pm; 4 Sep, X Cargo, 8pm.
