"Nine-to-five bored me to tears so I applied for a job at Sony and became a sales rep."

Position: Artist manager & indie label founder

How did you first become involved in the music business? I went from playing gigs at university for beer money to graduating and getting a normal job. Nine-to-five bored me to tears so I applied for a job at Sony and became a sales rep.

What's your area of expertise and what experience do you have? My key skill is bridging the gap between art and commerce. My experience includes ten years marketing at major labels in three continents, eight years in artist management, and three years running an indie label.

What topics will you be mostly talking about at Australian Music Week? I'm on a panel about the pros and cons of appearing on reality TV shows. I'm sure most of my informal chats will have nothing to do with that.

What do you hope to personally take away from Australian Music Week? I hope to discover some new Aussie talent, share war stories with my peers, and be re-inspired by the buzz of people sharing their passion for good music.

What's one question about the music industry you'd love to have the answer to? How do we solve the problem of consumers' disregard toward copyright law?
