The first outfit we have are an R 'n B, soul and afrobeat duo from central Australia Vayah. I love this song. It’s buttery, sultry and makes me feel like I’m floating as it has a beautiful chill R n'B vibe to it. I also love that Tyra the singer is from Nairobi, Kenya. I’m from Eritrea so she’s my fellow East African queen.
This track has got some push and momentum behind it. I wouldn’t say it’s violently aggressive but it’s got a lot more aggression behind it in comparison to [Vayah].This artist has played among some very notable names including De La Soul, Paul Mac and many others.
We’re switching it up again with this track. This song is funky – it's giving disco, it's giving a get down and have a good time and party together vibe. I love 70s music: funk, disco, soul, blues. Anything with the 70s vibe I absolutely love and this song really gives me that.
Next up we are going for an acoustic ballad. The thing is, I love demo tracks. Sometimes its hard to recreate the essence and the energy of the demo take and what [also] caught me eye was the title of this song.
This next song is gorgeous and very euphoric. I had a visceral reaction from hearing this track and takes a lot of talent and power to be able to have that effect through music. If I went through all their accolades and awards I’d be here forever but the proof is truly in the pudding. This song is beautiful.
This song means so much to me. Its called Lambos in Logan and its on my upcoming EP called Reckless. On the EP I wrote and performed on a bunch of tracks which I put together through a really reckless time in my life. They are like little stamps, time stamps of things that I learnt through painful lessons. I’m in a different place now and it feels really good where I am in life and I’m so excited and super open to the work that I need to put in for what else is to come.
