Here at Purple Sneakers, we have been keeping tabs on Billy Davis for quite some time now. To put it bluntly, this guy along with his very talented mates 'The Good Lords' are a bloody joy to behold and we definitely need a bit more of that in the New Year.
2017 saw Billy Davis join record label Good Manners who are the good folks responsible for the likes of Kllo, Banoffee and more. He put out a full length album, A Family Portrait, and with the help of The Good Lords, slayed his showcases at BIGSOUND and then wrapped it all up with a sweet support slot on NONAME's recent Australian tour.
Billy Davis' music is a melting pot of soul, RnB, hip hop and electronic sounds. Each track brings something new to the table but he somehow manages to keep a spring in his step even when exploring themes of heart break . Take for example his single 'No Longer Lovers'- this track is rich in soulful tones and soothing R&B vocals but with an underlying vibrant beat that will keep you on your toes.

From here, Davis shared a huge collaboration with Denzel Curry, cementing his name on the international scene as an up-and-comer worth keeping both eyes firmly fixed on. His soulful sounds, combined with Curry's impressive vocals, created a bop that contained emotion while highlighting Davis' ability to create something unique. It can be hard to cut through the noise that music in the modern era creates, but Davis maintains a genuine connection and quality in every single one of his songs that sets him apart from the rest.
The full Billy Davis experience is in their live show. There are 11 people that make up Billy Davis & The Good Lords and they know how to get people moving. Do yourself a favour in 2018 and put a Billy Davis show in your calendar, we promise you will not be disappointed.
