Scotsman Colin Lillie has traipsed a long road to end up living in Alice Springs, sober after years of drugs and alcohol and dedicating his life to his music. He's finally releasing his debut album, Glass Homes, this Friday and theMusic.com.au is excited to give you guys a sneak peek at the entire album ahead of time.
Lillie's raw, intense style is summarised perfectly in the album information he wrote for us, where he defends the "craft of the songwriter".
"This is an album that attempts to reconnect with a craft that used to connect with the listener to inform. Songs at one point were a way of informing those of the world around us. Domestic violence, abuse, murder, racism, poverty and love. Yet in today's world where we are more educated, more informed by visual and manipulated news, the songwriter has lost a powerful gift in some way.
"The craft of the songwriter is no longer about the song but says more about how the song was created, how the song is presented or how the songwriter presents themself. We can present a song that is is completely, completely about crime and sex which will top the charts, yet when did we last have a chart-topping song that explored the abuse of children in a western home or the murder of an innocent life?" Lillie questions.

"We as songwriters and lovers of music should hold on to the ancient values of the songwriter and the poets so we can continue this great craft, so we can leave a legacy for those who seek truth and light. To protect is to inform and to inform is to educate and to educate is to grow. It is time we began to grow again and not fall in to the Abyss of mediocracy."
Colin Lillie's Glass Homes is due out on 23 September.
