Album Focus: The Francis Wolves

Album title: The Francis Wolves 

Where did the title of your new album come from? It's self-titled. It seemed like the most logical thing to call our first record. 

How many releases do you have now? This is our second release. Our first one was a 7" that's now sold out. 

How long did it take to write/record? In total it took six months. Seven of the songs were written over one summer and the last song Oh So LA was written the day before we recorded the album. 

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? I watched a lot of spaghetti westerns during the recording process and listened to the Original Nuggets compilation. Hopefully you can hear the influence.  

What's your favourite song on it? Gothic Surf Club. It's dirty and fuzzy and reminds me of bands like The Ventures and Dick Dale. 

Will you do anything differently next time? I'd love the whole band in the studio together at the same time. Due to scheduling we had to record the rhythm section first and the horns last.  

When and where is your launch/next gig? We launch at The Bearded Lady, 8 Apr, with Inigo and Doom Mountain.
