"The challenge of making my first ever stripped-back acoustic record without the usual three-piece electric band was definitely inspiring."

Album title? Two Lucky Stars

Where did the title of your new album come from? This came from the title of one of the songs, which is also the main single from it — a little folky love ballad that I'd been sitting on for many years.

How many releases do you have now? Five full-length albums, two EPs and one live album which was recorded in America. So eight all up.

How long did it take to write/record? Writing had been in the works over the last seven years, and the recording of it was done over an 18-month period. So yes, a little too long for my liking...

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? The challenge of making my first ever stripped-back acoustic record without the usual three-piece electric band was definitely inspiring.

What's your favourite song on it? Build You Up (To Cut You Down). That was a pretty cathartic tune for me to get out.

Will you do anything differently next time? Absolutely. Next time I want to experiment a lot more with different guitar and percussion sounds. And really try to push some boundaries with acoustic guitar sounds.

When and where is your launch/next gig?

VIC: Official Melbourne launch is at The Flying Saucer Club on 1 Apr.

NSW: Gasoline Pony, 9 Mar.
