Album title? The Last Day of Winter

Where did the title of your new album come from? From a lyric in one of the songs — "The last day of winter is the first day of spring." It's about change and renewal and that felt right for this record.

How many releases do you have now? This is my third full length album, and the first with the current lineup with Justin Bernasconi and Cat Canteri.

How long did it take to write/record? We recorded over about seven studio days, but that was spread over about six months because it took a while getting everyone in the same place at the same time!

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? I played a couple of new instruments, the piano and fiddle, which brought out some different musical ideas. For the lyrics it was the usual things — observing myself and the people around me.

What's your favourite song on it? What I Want And How To Get It, because we just released a video for that which I like.

Will you do anything differently next time? It's too early to say what approach I'll take next time — I don't usually write with an agenda in mind, so I'll let the songs dictate how we record.

When and where is your launch/next gig? We start a national launch tour with Alison Ferrier on July 1 and we're touring throughout July and August, so looking forward to playing the new album live!
