Album title: Ephemeralogica

Where did the title of your new album come from? In 2015 I recorded a song each month with different producers and musicians. I couldn't find a word to represent the concept, so I made it up! Ephemeralogica: The considered acceptance of transience and return.

How many releases do you have now? Four. Two with Tasmanian blues/soul/funk band Let The Cat Out (2008, 2010), and my debut solo album, Lemon Tree (2012).

How long did it take to write/record? I recorded one song each month (released on my website), so the album was recorded steadily during 2015. The writing varied; some songs were new and quick to write, others had been simmering over time.

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? It was constantly inspiring to collaborate with the many fantastic musicians and producers I worked with from among the enormous wealth of artistic talent Melbourne harbours. And to see my songs take shape each month.

What's your favourite song on it? Tricky! The song I was working on each month became my new favourite! Story Thieves still stands out though.

Will you do anything differently next time? I'd love to pursue a number of leads from this project for future recordings, so perhaps some EPs instead of an album? Next album though with the same band hopefully.

When and where is your launch/next gig? 25 Feb, The Gasometer Hotel.
