Album title? Alyx Dennison

Where did the title of your new album come from? It is self-titled.

How many releases do you have now? I have released two albums in a duo called kyü, but this is my first solo release. 

How long did it take to write/record? I wrote the songs over a number of years, after kyü broke up and while I was travelling. The songs manifested themselves so differently at various points until I finished them last year.

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? I think travelling and being out of my “safe space” allowed me to let go of a lot of my ego and be able to express myself freely. 

What’s your favourite song on it? Desiring Machine is my favourite on a whole, but I think Jewels Are Just Lumps has my favourite lyrics.

Will you do anything differently next time? This album was very lyrical, and more about the words than what I wanted to explore musically. Next time I want to focus more on the music.

When and where is your launch/next gig? My album launch is on 4 Jun at Newtown Social Club! Wooo!
