A 'Squid Game' Reality Show Is Dropping On Netflix This Week

Netflix is gearing up to launch Squid Game: The Challenge, a reality show adaptation of the South Korean hit series, set to become the largest reality competition in television history.

The series is scheduled to premiere on the streaming service on November 22, taking the concept of the original series into a new, high-octane format.

Unlike the fictional Squid Game, the reality version thankfully doesn't involve a matter of life or death. However, the stakes are still high, as, 456 contestants will vie for a prize of a whopping $4.56 million, the largest cash prize ever offered in reality TV history.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director and creator of the original Squid Game scripted series, teased some info about the reality show, including that the series will consist of 10 episodes, with intriguing titles such as Red Light, Green Light, The Man with the Umbrella, and Circle of Trust.

In the first trailer for Squid Game: The Challenge, fans of the OG series will notice the iconic animatronic doll, Young-hee, as contestants eagerly enter the game hall.
