A Day To Remember ProfilePost-hardcore legends A Day To Remember have proven that they still hold their punk roots dear; releasing a frantic belter of a tune and an accompanying video late last week. The track titled Paranoia, is super fast, super angry and will likely surprise a few fans given the poppier vibe that has shone through on ADTR’s last couple of records. Despite the verse on Paranoia playing out like a straight up hardcore track (in the vein of fast heavy bands like Comeback Kid and Stick To Your Guns), the chorus still delivers the characteristically catchy AF hook that we’ve come to associate with A Day To Remember. These guys have managed to balance aggression with melody perfectly over their 13 years as a band, and despite taking on a heavier sound, that balance is again on show in Paranoia.
Debuting the new track on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show for Apple Music last week, A Day To Remember frontman Jeremy McKinnon was coy when quizzed about a possible album announcement following Paranoia’s release. “We just take it as it comes; we write all the time…You’re acting like there’s a mystery album floating around out there. It’s not. We just have this song that we’re putting out right now for fun.” Personally, I’m not convinced. Fingers crossed for an album announcement some time over the next couple of months!
