"It’s super exciting. It’s probably the most exciting part of my career and my life at the moment but it’s very nerve-racking because you don’t really know what’s going to happen."
Nine years after discovering drum'n'bass for the first time, up and coming Perth EDM artist RidOne, aka Ridwaan Rawat, is releasing his self-titled debut EP and finally getting to show everyone where his passion for making EDM has led him. It's been a nerve-racking process working to get it released but the 23-year-old producer says he's just happy to finally get to share his music with the world.
“I guess the EP is like an amalgamation of a lot of different things I've been influenced by. I've been playing it at shows and people have been going fairly hard to it so I guess that's a good sign but that's pretty much what the EP is about; not having much else but the music to give back to people, and so that's what I'm doing.
“For me it's sort of like, you know you've put your hard work into it and whether or not things play out as you want them to, you know how much blood, sweat and tears went into it. And if it all goes well that's a bonus. If it doesn't you have to kind of look at yourself and go, 'Well you said you would set out to do something and you did it so is that a success for you?' and to me that would be a success because I told people this is what I was going to do and as far as I'm concerned I did it and whatever happens next is all very exciting and very nerve-racking but I guess for me I'm proud of myself for doing that and hopefully other people are proud and that's how it works out. So I guess apprehensive, probably not, but definitely nervous; always nervous. If you're not nervous, something's wrong.”
All eyes will be on the young artist when he takes the stage for his launch at Metro City, where he's a regular performer. “I just want everybody in the room to feel the same way I'm feeling and everyone to know that everyone is there for the same reason and just to feel that magic that you can make. I guess that's what all DJs are there for, is to make magic in the room and I guess I want people to feel like they're there for the same reasons I'm there.”

Apart from the record, he's still hard at work on Divisions, the record label which he started with fellow music lover Jovin Sveinbjornsson that aims to share and spread the EDM genre whilst keeping the artists' sound pure and true to their vision. “It's super exciting. It's probably the most exciting part of my career and my life at the moment but it's very nerve-racking because you don't really know what's going to happen. Still I'm very excited for my team, I'm proud of the work they've put in for me and I'm proud of the work I've put in too. I'm proud of all my family and friends and all the support we're getting from everyone and I'm hell excited.”
