Five minutes with Tammy Anderson.
What is the best thing about a solo performance? The thrill of the ride. You get to play all characters, move through light and shade, take the audience by surprise. You hold the audience in the palm of your hand. I can hear their heart beat. I can hear them hold their breath. Total control. It's exhilarating for me as a performer. There's nothing like it!
What was your first performance? My first performance was on the front steps of a housing commission house with all the kids in my street sitting on the brown grass watching me sing Patsy Cline songs and dreaming of being a country and western singer! I was ten.
If you weren't a performer, what would you be doing? Good question! I'm a writer so that would be a great direction... To write many novels and film scripts. I love photography! And I love fashion! A designer! I'm a great people person; I love bringing people together. The list is endless. Maybe a Princess, hmmmm that way I could be an ambassador at a high level and make changes in the world that I deeply care about.
What or where did you like to play as a child? As a child we played in the street, in the backyard, in the park , in the broken down cars, or down by the river. We moved around a lot and I used my imagination to escape reality.
Who is your favourite artist or performer? I'm loving Frida Kahlo at the moment. Her work and her story is inspirational. I love rock stars – The Rolling Stones Rock my world! Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, the great storytellers. There are many favourites. I'm inspired by artists and performers that continue to grow and deepen their passion and strive for excellence. It becomes your way of life. I love what I do!
