Master of music journeys, Perth's Sleepyhead selects us an excellent playlist..

Possessing both excellent technical ability and a conscious musical vision, Perth-based DJ Sleepyhead is a master of the mixtape, and one of our fave DJs to get down to in a live environment.  Never tied too heavily to a particular style, when Sleepyhead's in the driver's seat you can expect many exciting music stop-offs - from experimental indie-pop, firey raps, feel-good retro hip hop, blissed-out electronica, disco... Sleepyhead expertly pulls pieces of the contemporary music puzzle together to paint a perfect dancefloor picture by the end of every set.

Catch Sleepyhead playing at venues around Perth city, from The Bird to the Manor to Flyrite to Gilkisons, often supporting internationals, on a regular basis. You can also hear him hosting RTRFM 92.1's Cloudwaves rap radio show on Thursdays, details HERE, and head to Amplifier next Friday March 20 to experience his DJ selections in person. Passing this over to Sleepyhead now, whose prepared ten on-point plays to make your day:

KENDRICK LAMAR - THE BLACKER THE BERRY

I can’t describe how crucial the last album was to me. When the new one drop, don't talk to me.

MEEK MILL - MONSTER

THE MAN WHO RAPS IN ALL CAPITALS IS ON A HUGE ROLL ATM. OH LORD!

FATHER JOHN MISTY - THE NIGHT JOSH TILLMAN CAME TO OUR APT.

In professional wrestling, the bad guys are referred to as ‘heels’. The character of Father John Misty is undoubtedly the smarmy heel of indie-folk.

CHARLIE WILSON - INFECTIOUS FT. SNOOP DOGG

I’ve been DJing at The Manor a lot recently, and I can tell you; nothing moves a dance floor quite like Snoop Dogg and Uncle Charlie.

PANDA BEAR - COME TO YOUR SENSES

New Panda Bear album is fire. Come To Your Senses captures the LPs ‘sweaty and delirious ‘cause its 27 degrees at midnight’ vibes.

 REKCHAMPA - COMBINE

LoveBelow are the finest purveyors of edits and reworks and Rekchampa’s take on this disco classic is no different. Percussive, chugging and dreamy.

TABU LEY ROCHEREAU - HAFI DEO

Tabu Ley was a Congolese pop legend who passed away in 2013 after releasing over 250 albums and 3000 songs. This reissue on Soundwax Records has been on repeat in Forrest Street all summer.

TRINIDAD JAMES - BLACKMAN PT. 2

Dropped by Def Jam so he fucks around and leaks a track with the best Diplo beat since Climax.

ANDRAS & OSCAR - LOOKING BACK

Song of the Summer 2014-'15 title holder. Keep your eyes peeled for Raaghe in the video.

JACQUES DUTRONC - HIPPIE HIPPIE HOURAH

Old French song, spotted at the end of the new Aziz Ansari standup. Fucking heart breaking/inspiring. Like a french Iggy Pop.
