A now–defunct local act joked that metal is like a car – best without breakdowns. This Melbourne squad’s inaugural full–length missed that memo; it’s bristling with thunderous beatdowns ensuring nightly pit carnage.

Melbourne deathcore outfit Boris the Blade have quickly gone from upstarts to established in the scene. The band is preparing to release their debut album, 'The Human Hive' this May. Having gained a strong following since their inception, local and international touring in 2014 aims to show the world this attention is justified. We talked to guitarist Josh Lording about touring, the album and the state of deathcore. 

While Australian metal fans may currently be unfamiliar with the name Boris the Blade, chances are this won't be the case for long. With an impressive debut EP just released and the band's first run of shows completed, Boris the Blade appear set to fill a void in the local death metal scene. KYS caught up with the group's frontman Daniel Sharp late last week to discuss recent musical developments.
