School Night launched in Sydney last year and is expanding to Melbourne for the first time this month.
Fourteen women and gender-diverse songwriters and composers have been chosen for this year’s 23% mentorship program.
Ormston is the second-ever Australian to be elected in the role in the organisation’s 99-year history.
The documentary celebrates the stories and experiences of songwriters and producers from Australia, New Zealand, and across the globe.
As Diana Torossian was such a passionate supporter of local songwriters, it’s only fitting that a new award has been named in her honour.
"It’s a testament to the opportunity of Australia becoming a global songwriting powerhouse," said APRA AMCOS CEO Dean Ormston.
Ahead of this year's APRA Awards, we spoke to three of the Emerging Songwriter Of The Year nominees – Miss Kaninna, Emily Wurramara, and Jem Cassar-Daley – about the most important thing they've learned about songwriting.
“This increased investment means there will be more chances for both emerging and established artists to get on stage,” said APRA AMCOS CEO Dean Ormston.
“Venues and festivals are under huge pressure at the moment."
