August Alsina

August Anthony Alsina Jr. (born September 3, 1992) is an American singer-songwriter from New Orleans, Louisiana. Alsina released his first mixtape The Product in 2012, followed by The Product 2 and his debut extended play (EP) Downtown: Life Under the Gun in 2013, the latter released under The-Dream's Radio Killa Records and Def Jam Recordings. The same year, Alsina released his debut single, "I Luv This Shit" (featuring Trinidad James) to commercial success as it peaked within the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100; a follow up single, "No Love (Remix)" (featuring Nicki Minaj) reached similar success as both received platinum certification by the RIAA.
Both songs would precede the release of Alsina's debut studio album, Testimony in April 2014, which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and saw positive critical reception. His second album, This Thing Called Life (2015) was released the following year to continued positive reception, seeing repressed commercial orientation. Meanwhile, Alsina made notable guest performances on DJ Khaled's hit singles "Hold You Down" in 2014 and "Do You Mind" in 2016. After a long-tenured hiatus and departure from Def Jam, he independently released his third album, The Product III: State of Emergency in June 2020.
