“It feels clearly like the only choice to make."

The Michael Jackson episode of The Simpsons will be pulled from circulation following controversy around HBO documentary Leaving Neverland.

As Wall Street Journal reports, executive producer James L Brooks has confirmed that season three episode Stark Raving Dad, which features Jackson as the voice of Leon Kompowsky, will be pulled following the screening of HBO’s two-part series.

“It feels clearly like the only choice to make,” Brooks said, confirming the decision was made with creator Matt Groening and long-time showrunner Al Jean.

“The guys I work with — where we spend our lives arguing over jokes — were of one mind on this.

“This was a treasured episode. There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain.”

The news comes as Australian radio stations axe Jackson's music.

Exploring the experiences of two men who alleged they were abused by the late singer when they were children, part one of Leaving Neverland will premiere 8.30pm tonight on Ten.
