Hilltop Hoods will join a small group of Australian acts in ARIA chart history should their new album, The Great Expanse, debut at #1 this week.

If the Adelaide trio's record lands at top spot, it will mark their fifth-straight #1 studio LP; a feat only achieved by two of Australia's biggest acts in Silverchair and Powderfinger.

The hip hop outfit have already cracked the record if you include their 2016-released remix album, Drinking from the Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung, however they currently sit at four number one records when it comes specifically to studio albums.

Powderfinger also hit #1 in 2010 with their live album, Sunsets Farewell Tour.

Hilltop Hoods discussed the record during this week's episode of The Music Podcast.

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't know that because my manager keeps reminding me," Pressure laughed.

Suffa added, "It's important to us because a lot of people worked on this record.

"Our label, our management... we want everyone, apart from us, to be rewarded for how hard they've worked."

Though the charts won't be released until this coming Saturday, The Great Expanse will no doubt be one of the favourites to debut at #1.

"There's such a massive team behind us as well and they don't get any shine or accolades," Pressure said.

"So for them, that's awesome."
