WAMAwards Unveils 2018 Hall Of Fame Inductees, Line-up & More

It’s action stations for the fast-approaching WAMAwards, with this year’s Hall Of Fame inductees named alongside the Golden WAMi nominees and the line-up for the big night.

Set to go down at the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth on November 1, two local legends, Dixie Battersby and The Stems, will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame.

One of Perth’s most beloved music industry figures, Battersby launched DB Publicity in 2013 after working at EMI for many years, while The Stems helped shape indie-rock in the ‘80s.

"There have been highlights and some lowlights but making the music and taking it to fans all over the world has been fun," The Stems' Dom Mariani told The Music.

"It’s a nice surprise. Cool recognition for the band and the people who have been involved."

Battersby said she was “very honoured” to be inducted into the WAM Hall of Fame.

“I think we have a great live scene over here,” she said.

The 2018 Golden WAMi Award nominees include Caitlin Nienaber, Chris Wheeldon, James Newhouse, Luke Rinaldi, Tenille Elkins and Tom Fisher.

Some of the state’s best emerging and established artists will also perform on the evening, with The Stems confirmed to headline alongside acclaimed duo Gina Williams and Guy House, seven-time WAMAward nominee and BIGSOUND buzz act Carla Geneve, neo-soul/pop artist Your Girl Pho, hip hop producer Hyclass and rising jazz stars Gemma Farrell Quintet.

The night will also be hosted by Perth Symphony Orchestra founder Bourby Webster and actor/radio presenter Blake Williams.
