More The Lyrical More The Lyrical

Just in time for the weekend, Brisbane-based folk/roots/hip hop tunesmith Karl Smith, aka The Lyrical, has returned with new song Fuck It All, a rallying cry to shake off the weight of the materialistic tendencies of the world and just… well… do like the title says.

Featuring Gold Coast muso Jackson Dunn in the starring role as a man ready to unshackle from the daily grind and just let loose for a while, the clip — proudly premiered today by theMusic.com.au — sports some stunning Queensland scenery to accompany The Lyrical's sweet riffs, deep grooves and soulful vocals.

The track, which Smith says is "not about denying those things exist, or even the importance of those things, but recognising, hey, it doesn't matter and it will be okay", is his first new track since 2014's acclaimed Old Revolver (feat. Sahara Beck) as well as being a mightily anthemic piece and a welcome return to the spotlight for one of the local roots scene's brightest.

The Lyrical is presently in the midst of a run of shows, having recently knocked over outings in the Valley and the Sunshine Coast. He's back in Brissy next weekend to play Irish Murphy's on Sunday 19 March, will play a duo show at Hotel Brunswick the following Friday, and wrap up the current stint at Lennox Head's Lennox Hotel on Sunday 2 April.
