Sydney folk-noir duo Jep & Dep are releasing a brand new video and song in homage to Berlin today — a result of living and touring there since 2000.
My Berlin is "about the city in grips of being devoured by global gentrification". The black-and-white video was shot, edited and produced in the creative city by the duo themselves and takes inspiration from the film noir artistic style with brooding shots, abandoned scenes and the urban landscapes that Berlin is perhaps best known for.
The band's management state, "Filmed on just a budget camera and a tonne of inspiration they realised they had something special almost immediately.
"Having completed writing the single My Berlin in Berlin, being D.I.Y and extremely resourceful the duo set out to do a film-noir movie to accompany their film-noir song - the result speaks for itself- dark, romantic, forlorn and beautiful - just like Berlin."
