More Flowertruck More Flowertruck

Ascendant Sydney outfit Flowertruck are about to hit the road for a three-date run of co-headline shows alongside Major Leagues this May but, before they set off, the band are first unveiling the video clip for their new single Tourmaline, premiering on The Music today.

Taking place in a fictional art gallery, the clip — filmed by The Creases member and newly minted QMA winner Joe Agius — has its real-world roots in its shooting locations of Brisbane's Botanical Gardens and within stalwart venue The Foundry. As is the effect du jour, the clip is made to look like an old VHS, replete with edge-blurring and occasional static, as we're provided a glimpse into the bizarre, living art world contained within the clip, where portraits sing, paintings dance and statues overact.

Tourmaline is taken from Flowertruck's recently released debut EP, Dirt, which dropped back in September and is presently available via Bandcamp.

The band's co-headline tour with Major Leagues kicks off at Newtown Social Club on Saturday 7 May, and includes dates in Melbourne (Shebeen, 14 May) and Brisbane (The Foundry, 21 May). However, fans have a couple of extra opportunities to catch the band in action ahead of those shows from tonight, 29 March, when they play Newtown Social Club with Nicholas Allbrook, as well as at the same venue on Saturday 2 April with Brissy indie darlings The Goon Sax.
