PREMIERE: She Rex - This Way

Ascendant Sydney-bred outfit She Rex have spent the past few years accruing a steadily growing, dedicated fan base with their thoughtful, intelligent, genre-transcending compositions, highlighted by their output of tracks such as 2013's P.O.W.E.R., 2014's The Heist, and Arson Attack earlier this year.

Now, the fierce foursome — individually, Nikkita Rast, Skarlet Saramore, Sarah Jullienne and and Darcie Irwin-Simpson — are kicking things up another notch with the unveiling of the visual accompaniment to their most recent single, last month's This Way, which we at theMusic.com.au are stoked to be able to premiere for you today.

The track feels like a melodic encapsulation of Do What You Feel Day, its themes and ideas "an ode to your inner self … about losing the need to fuse with society's norms about what to do and when".

"She Rex believes that the only real truth is your inner truth, which should be shelved higher than what society tries to prescribe," the band explain in a statement.

This Way, the song, was recorded, produced and mixed by Tim Carr at Studios 301 and Defwolf Studios. The clip was directed by Kerinne Jenkins, and stars Claire Appleby as a young girl "who is underwhelmed by life in its current form, so dreams of a better, more fun existence in her head".
