More Boom Crash Opera More Boom Crash Opera

The Brownlow Medal - aka Australia's Eurovision, aka football's Logies - opened last night's broadcast with none other than Boom Crash Opera. Yeah, Boom Crash Opera — and the performance was far more 'crash' than 'opera'.

Okay, you say, at least they went local. But not exactly finger-on-the-pulse local musical entertainment. Hell, even when it comes to great Australian bands of the '80s, do BCO even scrape the top 50? No offense guys, but you rank closer to Uncanny X Men than INXS on the Midnight Oil-to-Spy-V-Spy scale of '80s Aussie chart bands.

And hey, we appreciate that Channel Seven didn't fill the spot with cross-promotional X Factor fillers, but did you even try reaching out to Vance Joy or some other act currently hovering around the top of the charts? Hell, if you were going for people Middle Australia don't know how about Bad//Dreems, they'd have at least dressed in footy jumpers.
