Album Review: Ziggy Marley - Ziggy Marley

"This self-titled release is not going to build too many bridges for reggae."

More Ziggy Marley More Ziggy Marley

For all the chilled out, peace-love-and-harmony vibe of reggae, it remains one of the truly divisive sounds in world music.

And while Ziggy Marley carries the name of the most recognised reggae artists of all time, this self-titled release is not going to build too many bridges for reggae. Ziggy has released quality records over the past three decades [2006's Love Is My Religion gets high rotation during this writer's "mellower" moments], but Ziggy Marley is safe, bland and fails to inspire much excitement at all over its 12 tracks. Try Love Is My Religion instead.
