Indie-rock band deliver unique performance at Flinders University.

More The Griswolds More The Griswolds

This was a special performance for many, as The Griswolds and Safia helped welcome new Flinders students embarking their first semester at university!

Others, who were there purely to support the artists, also didn’t leave disappointed. A cool Friday night called for a well-filled turn out at Flinders University’s O’Fiesta. Food trucks, freebies and entertainment made for excellent vibes and pretty decorative lights generated a festive ambience.

Local DJs such as Tink and DJ Bottlerockets started the night out on a high note and pumped out well-known tunes the crowd could sing and dance along to. The show being outdoors meant that there was plenty of space and therefore there was no crowd hostility whatsoever. Next on stage was Canberra three-piece, Safia, who played an energetic and fun set. Finishing off with one of their most popular tracks, Take Me Over, they left the crowd in astronomical anticipation for The Griswolds’ performance.

With the night moving on, The Griswolds emerged on stage at around 10pm and blasted out well-known tune, Right On Track, to get the set going. Lead singer Christopher Whitehall lightly bantered with members of the crowd which in turn created a fun and light-hearted vibe. They played songs from their album Be Impressive and treated the audience to their triple j Like a Version cover of Vance Joy’s Riptide.

When the band launched into If You Wanna Stay, the crowd reciprocated with cheer. They then finished off with their two most popular tracks, Beware The Dog and Heart Of A Lion. The crowd put most of their energy into these two numbers, as they knew the set was coming to an end. Joyful and carefree, the members of The Griswolds displayed true passion in their playing and promised to play in Adelaide again soon.
