Their no-holds-barred approach to rugged pub-rock could be more at home on the live stage

Opener Money Tree’s urgent drum patterns and gritty riff kick off a roughhousing array of hammered guitar chords and smoothly screeching power vox. Though displaying potential talent, there’s zilch to distinguish this hard-rocking trio’s release: an excessively favoured, rudimentary sound that we’ve heard ad nauseam. Catalyst’s opening line, “Another day in another time,” could perhaps refer to their tough, female-powered shtick, which might once have been novel enough on its own. Their no-holds-barred approach to rugged pub-rock could be more at home on the live stage. See for yourself at Yah Yah’s on 6 Sep.
