Melbourne Youth Music: Chicken Run

This concert was clearly plenty of fun for those involved.

Kazoos are funny so this must be why this one-off concert was part of MICF. The Edge at Federation Square was filled with mums, grandmums and hundreds of small noisy children, equipped with plastic instruments so they could make more noise. The audience stood for two renditions of Advance Australian Fair, rousing, it must be said. The kazoo choir, brought together especially for this concert, was accompanied by Melbourne Youth Music's full orchestra. Peter Bandy conducted. The orchestra and choir performed two numbers from the film Chicken Run, Building the Crate and The Final Escape. Am not sure what I did to deserve being sent along to this show, but it was mercifully short! Melbourne Youth Music was established all the way back in 1967 to provide opportunity for youngsters to find their instruments and runs eight different programmes to this end. This concert was clearly plenty of fun for those involved.
