"Like everything on Japanese/American multi-instrumentalist Kishi Bashi’s latest album, the spelling of Lighght is definitively precise"

More Kishi Bashi More Kishi Bashi

No, it's not a spelling mistake. Like everything on Japanese/American multi-instrumentalist Kishi Bashi's latest album, the spelling of Lighght is definitively precise. Ebbing through up-tempo, frolic-worthy pop songs and flowing through carefully crafted instrumental pieces, Lighght takes the path less travelled and your ears will thank you for following its footprints. The album lives in the treble clef, violins meeting Bashi's voice in an explosion of colour and light. It never comes across as saccharine though, always keeping far enough away from traditional pop to retain its intelligent brilliance.
