An excruciating five years since his brilliant last album, Evolver, soul singer John Legend returns with his forth solo set, Love In The Future. Over his career Legend's sound has covered three distinct areas: '60s and '70s-influenced trad-soul, hip hop-influenced neo-soul and, more recently, borderline cheesy, Disney-esque overblow. Overseen by Kanye West amongst others, Love In The Future continues to cover all three and does it in style, flaunting his gift for making his one night stands feel like the only woman on earth. Another slick effort from America's pre-eminent soul man.
