This offering from JBL is sleek and smooth.

Today we take a look at the JBL Soundbar Cinema SB 400, a powerful home theatre system consisting of a 120 watt soundbar and an 8” wireless 200 watt subwoofer. The soundbar allows for multiple connectivity with three HDMI inputs and an HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) from your TV, Aux in, Optical in and Bluetooth. A two-position EQ that lets you select between table and wall mounting, and Harman surround sound generates a virtual surround experience when watching movies.

I tested the SB 400 with a variety of source material. Firstly, when streaming Bluetooth from an iPhone there was no loss in signal and my favourite mp3s sounded full and thick. Listening to CDs through the Aux input really showed off the quality of the tone, always smooth, rich and deep like a fine wine, and never harsh or overly boomy like a budget home system. Finally, engaging the virtual surround for movies did widen the sound but doesn't provide a true 5.1 experience. That being said I'd take the Soundbar over just about any other home theatre system because of its sleek design, multiple inputs and smooth, full sound.
