"It's the White Stripes and Raconteurs frontman's softer side that's mostly on display here."

More Jack White More Jack White

For a man who's famous for shredding and wailing with captivating abandon, Jack White has always been a hell of a crooner, too.

It's the White Stripes and Raconteurs frontman's softer side that's mostly on display here, on this 26-track bumper crop of acoustic numbers and pared-back versions of more raucous numbers spanning almost two decades of his career. The track list reels from Stripes classics like Apple Blossom and As Ugly As I Seem through the Raconteurs era (the excellent Carolina Drama sonically stripped but not lacking in, well, drama) to more recent solo numbers, with Hip (Eponymous) Poor Boy a standout.
