"It works, but falls short when compared to the broader Ill Niño canon."

More Ill Nino More Ill Nino

You can’t blame a band for expanding their sound, but there’s something unnerving about former genre forerunners moving towards the trend of the day. While Ill Niño are still rocking the Latin-infused polyrhythms and guitar passages that saw them stand out amongst their peers, they seem much more interested in djent-chugs and breakdowns nowadays. The album’s few introspective moments don’t quite make up for its attempts to ‘get down with the kids’, ultimately reducing its credibility. As a continuation of 2012’s Epidemia, it works, but falls short when compared to the broader Ill Niño canon.
