More Ellie Goulding More Ellie Goulding

A sold out crowd braved the cold last night to catch a glimpse of Ellie Goulding at Hordern Pavillion. Opening the night was New Zealand brother and sister duo Broods, Caleb and Georgia Nott. Broods gave an epic opening performance, worthy of a headlining spot. Georgia is a vocal powerhouse, delivering pitch-perfect vocals song after song, making the entire audience stop and take notice, while Caleb had an infectious energy on the keys. Standout songs were Never Gonna Change and Four Walls. Broods has promised to be back in Australia this August, so keep an eye out for them; these two are going to be a household name very soon.
Taking the stage bang on time, surrounded by lightning in an impressive visual display, Ellie Goulding opened with high energy renditions of Figure 8, Ritual and Goodness Gracious in quick succession, as the crowd surged forward to get closer to the athletic songstress.
The multi-talented musician showed off her impressive range, with no shortage of vocal gymnastics while also banging on a drum through Only You and playing an impressive acoustic guitar solo for Guns And Horses – proving there is far more to this beauty than meets the eye.
Slowing it down with a cover of Elton John's Your Song, there were more than a couple of tears in the crowd as Goulding delivered a mesmerising rendition of the ballad. The crowd lit up the darkness, holding their mobile phone lights in the air, as the indie-pop princess ended her set with a rendition of Lights.
After a few moments in the dark, and some ground-trembling stamping of feet, Goulding came back out for an encore, saying, “I want this to go on forever, guys,” and delivering crowd favourite performances of You, My Everything and Burn.
