Raw Comedy National Grand Final

"The deserving winner is Matt Stewart from Victoria, whose clever jokes about boat people and training his voice not to be monotone win the judges’ votes."

The show gets off to a late start, as the Town Hall packs out and excitable host Ronny Chieng gets the audience warmed up with 'team-building' cheering exercises.  The 11 contestants ooze talent, and if any of them are nervous, they do a great job of covering it up. Personal favourites are Justin Hayward, the teacher from Ballarat who tells a side-splitting, believable story about tea-bagging; and Katie Burch, the mother from Sydney whose dry stories about life as a mum and wife are brilliant.  She is awarded the Runner Up prize tonight. There is also a special guest performance from the winner of Raw Comedy India, Rohan Desai, who acts as a newbie, timid comedian in a very convincing fashion. The deserving winner is Matt Stewart from Victoria, whose clever jokes about boat people and training his voice not to be monotone win the judges' votes.
